Easily one of the best science fiction writers I've ever run across.
For an easily digestible bit, I suggest Rogue Farm from the 'Live without a Net' short story compilation. That's what got me hooked, and got me to hunt more down.

The local library had a few of his titles. I read Glasshouse first, should have read Accelerando first. Oh well.
I could literally feel my brain grinding down on a regular basis, chewing up clock cycles, as I tried to digest the barrage of ideas and themes wrapped in a mutated crunchy shell of damn good writing.
Absolutely brilliant.
I'll be buying a lot of these for re-reads years hence.
If you like SF, you do yourself a disservice not to ingest some of Stross' work.
